Each year millions of people try different diets and methods for losing weight and spend billions of dollars on every diet available and fail in their attempt to lose weight. The secret to weight loss is you have to think of it as a commitment, a new way of life, not just something you do for a couple of months and then it's over.
Your muscles are the body's most readily available source of energy. If you try to lose weight by reducing calories too much your body will respond by using muscle tissue as it's enery source. This will make your body start storing more fat instead of losing it. Starving yourself is not the answer! Using muscle tissue as an enegery source will make the body's metabolism slow down and make it much more difficult to lose wiehgt.
Some tips for losing weight:
1) Set realistic goals for your weight loss.
2) Run or walk every day. Running is a great way to get in shape. You will both drop extra pounds and your body will gain extra muscle.
3) Drink lots of water. For your body to function properly you need to drink water. Water will help your body stay hydrated and looking good.
4) Eat breakfast. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. If you eat a good healthy breakfast you will not get hungry between meals.
5) Eat slowly. The benefit of eating slowly is it will prevent over eating. By eating slowly you will allow the stomach to give a signal to the brain that you have eaten enough before it's too much
6) Keep track of what you are eating. Keeping a food journal helps you finding your eating patterns and allows you to easily modify it.
